Brewer’s thoughts 15/06/17:
We’re half way through 2017 and sun is scorching down on the brewery here in rural North Norfolk. The year got off to a great start and has continued to do so across the months, with our core range American Pale Ale becoming our second best seller shortly after being released and our seasonal ales going down a storm, along with our other core range beers.
We produced one off 3.3% Mild for CAMRA’s Mild May campaign, also tying in as a special release for this year’s City Of Ale festival in Norwich. A great chance for our Head Brewer Alex to brew a more traditional English style with some modern twists. Light red in colour, the Mild was more of a nod towards the traditional ‘light milds’ found in many historic pubs and was gently hopped with Challenger, Fuggles and Mosaic. Backed up by a deceptively full mouthfeel for the ABV. The City Of Ale festival itself was well attended and said by many to be the best one yet – with ‘ale trails’ across a wealth of city pubs and many special events happening around Norwich to celebrate the great city pubs and history of brewing in the area.
Following on from our Mild we started June off with the release of this summer’s seasonal ale ‘Summer Daze’. A hoppy extra pale ale, with a juicy aroma and long finish for enjoying during the long summer evenings. It will be produced regularly until September in cask only and boasts the fantastic hops; Amarillo, Mosaic and Motueka for a truly refreshing summer ale.
Looking forward to the forthcoming months we will be keeping our permanently available core beers to Golden, Red, Black, American Pale Ale and Beast Of The East. Supplemented with the addition of a seasonal Autumn Red IPA from September to November, and maybe a little something else if our production schedule allows it!
