It is very warm in the brewery; I’m in my shorts so it must be our summer! Our seasonal beer Summer Daze is selling well. It has been a good year for us and we have a new apprentice. Some of you may have seen Paul before as he helped out on Saturdays at the brewery. We wish him well. He has shown to be very keen and he is very passionate about brewing. I am sure he will be brewing some new ales soon.
We have been pleased with the response from our new designs. More news can be seen on our blog page. Our customers have been telling us they are clearer and easier to understand.
As a business we believe in supporting good community causes and have brewed a special ale “Kett’s Oak” a barley wine style for the Norfolk SEN network. This charity does a lot of good work in assisting parents of children with special educational needs through the changes in education law. This is to ensure that the education is right for their child. We were very pleased to be asked by the Norwich City of Ale organisers in April to brew this Kett’s Oak barley wine beer with a local brewery Poppyland (based in Cromer). Dave and I came up with the recipe, we brewed it together and both of us are very pleased with the outcome. It has been selling well and all the casks have been sold. We used out automated bottling line and produced many bottles; each one has a unique number. There are few left, so pick some up at our markets or from our shop at the brewery. Do not forget that each bottle sold £1.50 will be donated to the charity.
Our contract bottling facility has been busy this year and we have been asked to bottle other beverages than beer. We are carrying out feasibility projects currently. So any producers who need more bottle stock we have a few bottling slots for July and August for your beverages.
Some good news as we have had preliminary discussions with a company in the Far East and these have been encouraging for exporting our aluminium bottle craft beer range. Updates to follow as soon as we know more!
